Jack Dawson is a penniless artist who wins a ticket onto Titanic in 1912. He attends a first class dinner, develops a taste for the finer things in life, and pockets the Heart of the Ocean. He survives the sinking, pawns the massive blue diamond, spends the next ten years building his wealth and in 1922 moves to West Egg.
He decides to call himself Jay Gatsby... the millionaire with a shady past and a love for women named after flowers.
