Tasmanian Woman's Unusual Excuse For Missing Work Leaves Bosses In Stitches

November 20, 2023

In a tale that could only happen down under, a Tasmanian woman found herself in quite the slippery situation when she had to inform her employer that she couldn't make it to work – all thanks to a 600kg, blubbery roadblock named 'Neil the Seal.'

Amber Harris, a resident of Tasmania, woke up to an unexpected surprise when she discovered Neil, a well-known southern elephant seal, lounging nonchalantly in her driveway.

Unfazed by her daily work responsibilities, Neil had strategically positioned himself for a nap, creating an aquatic obstacle course for Harris's car.

Harris said her office was understanding and were having "a bit of a laugh" about it.

"I think it's going to go down as the best excuse in history of not to go to work," Harris said, laughing.
