This Miracle Fruit Alters Your Taste Buds And Makes Sour Foods Taste Like Candy
April 8, 2023
Can you imagine eating a lemon or lime and it tasting like sugary, sweet candy?
That's exactly what happens after eating consuming this "miracle fruit".

Synsepalum dulcificum a.k.a. Miracle fruit
Synsepalum dulcificum is a plant native to West Africa. It's common name is "miracle fruit" or "miracle berry".
That's because when eaten it causes sour foods to taste sweet.
Miracle fruit contains a molecule called miraculin. When the fleshy part of the fruit is eaten, this molecule binds to the tongue's taste buds.
For about 30 minutes, the miraculin alters the taste buds and makes any sour food consumed taste sweet. Lemons and limes lose their zing and taste like candy.
Some other claims:
"Thick beers like Guinness and Newcastle Brown Ale taste like chocolate milk."
"Vinegar tastes like wine."
"Mustard tastes like honey."
"Grapes taste like sugar bombs. Lemons and limes taste like jolly ranchers."
"Tomatoes taste like a whole new fruit."
"Every strawberry or blueberry is the sweetest strawberry or blueberry you have ever tried."
"I drank vinegar like it was lemonade."
In the video below, kids eat the "magical berries" before consuming a variety of fruits and vegetables.
