Groundhogs Were Destroying His Garden, So He Built A Garden Just For Them
November 17, 2020
A mystery creature living under a man's shed was destroying everything in his garden, so he decided to set up a camera.
"I've been an avid gardener for 20 plus years and I've never seen this kind of damage," says Jeff. "Everything I was planting was getting eaten to shreds."
He discovered a squirrel and a possum grabbing snacks, but something didn't add up.
Then one day, he saw the culprit.

"He looked straight into the camera like he was saying, 'Yeah I'm here. I'm eating your garden. What are you going to do about it?'"
At first Jeff was a little upset and built some high fences. He put logs under the fences. But nothing worked.
He kept seeing videos of the groundhog eating his vegetables right in front of the camera.
Things only got worse.
The groundhog, who Jeff named "Chunk", got a girlfriend and invited her to enjoy Jeff's delicious treats -- right in front of the camera.
No matter what Jeff did, they were always a step ahead.
"It's all they do is wake up and eat," he said.
Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So, Jeff decided to give them their own garden.
After they went into hibernation last November, Jeff had the garden ready for them when they woke up.
And to his surprise, there was now a baby groundhog.
Jeff bought the groundhogs a miniature picnic table, a water fountain, and put out some nice decorations.
He films them daily for his Instagram account Chunk The Groundhog.
The videos are guaranteed to brighten your day.
"I always feel like, somebody's watching me."
"If I can do a job to protect them and keep them safe, prolong their life I'm all for it," Jeff said.
