Travel Photographer Meets Rare White Reindeer In Norway

December 5, 2018

A travel photographer captured stunning photos of a white reindeer in northern Norway.

Mads Nordsveen, 24, was traveling with friends in Senja when he came across the reindeer calf in a chance encounter.

"I was walking in the mountains looking for nice landscapes for my travel photography when out of nowhere I saw this wonderful little creature.

He came very close to me and we looked at each other straight in the eyes. He was quite relaxed when he saw that I was calm and friendly. It was almost as if he posed for the camera.

He was very curious and fun. Like a little explorer. After some minutes the mother of the baby reindeer came out of trees just behind. It walked around for some minutes before running back to its mother.

It was very magical and a fairytale moment."

Nordsveen shared the collection of stunning photos in an Instagram post, which has been liked over 25,000 times since it was published on Tuesday.

"The local Sami people we talked to told us that these white animals are so unique that in Sami tradition they bring happiness," Nordsveen said.
