Moms Debate If It's Ever Okay To Leave A Sleeping Baby Home Alone

May 18, 2016

Would you leave a peacefully sleeping 10-month-old home alone for 7 minutes?

would you leave the house with baby alone sleeping

That was the question posted on the British-based parenting forum, Mumsnet.com.

"Baby reliably naps at the same time every day for at least an hour," the mother wrote in the description of the post. "The 7 minutes is going to a shop to collect something approx 50 meters away."

Sure, it's a scenario that many parents home alone with a child have considered, but actually leaving is the step many parents won't take. The question has caused a big debate on the site:

Would you leave a peacefully sleeping 10m old home alone for 7 minutes

Would you leave a peacefully sleeping 10m old home alone for 7 minutes

Would you leave a peacefully sleeping 10m old home alone for 7 minutes

Reading through a majority of the 870 comments, the moms that said they would leave consider it the same as being in the shower or in the yard gardening.

The mothers that oppose leaving want you to consider that something could happen to YOU while you're gone, and no one would know the baby is home alone.

Who's right?
