Single Mom Dresses Up As A Dad To Take Her Kid To 'Donuts With Dad' Day At School
September 7, 2016
This single mom wasn't going to let her son miss out on "Donuts with Dad" day at his elementary school.
When Yevette Vasquez went to drop off her son Elijah at Sue Crouch Intermediate School in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday, she asked him why there were so many cars in the parking lot.
After he told her that there was an event taking place that was meant for students and their dads, she quickly went home, put on a baseball cap, plaid shirt, fake mustache and cologne and went back to her son's school.
Vasquez shared the photos on Facebook with the following message:
"Good morning, today at my son Elijah's skewl as I was dropping him off i ask him why there was so many cars... He said Donuts with Dad, so we quickly went back home cause I wasn't about to let him miss out..... I know seeing other dads with there kids isn't easy for mine but its life, at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face, so here it goes..... and please don't hate I know I'm a woman an so do my sons lol."
Vasquez says she didn't think twice about her bold act since her son has had to miss out on similar school activities in the past.
"I saw that same, sad look on his face, and I didn't want that," she said. "I wish I would have done it sooner."
After the photos went viral, Vasquez shared an update on her Facebook page.
"Its officially all over the world I have gotten messages and interviews from everywhere like Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Europe, Afghanistan, United kingdom an India and thats not counting the United States!!! This is one AMAZING time in our lives and we greatly appreciate all the LOVE!!!! Shout out to all parents being a parent single or not aint easy so I salute you all as well!!!"
