Tennis Player Consoles Opponent After She Twists Her Ankle And Is Forced To Retire
September 23, 2020
Two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka was playing Daria Kasatkina in the Italian Open 2020 when Kasatkina took a fall and injured her ankle in the first set tiebreaker.
Azarenka retrieved ice and jogged it over to the 23-year-old, and even helped take her right shoe off as she sat on the clay in Rome to help apply the ice to her ankle.
Kasatkina became overwhelmed with emotion and started sobbing on the court when she realized she could not continue in the competition.
Azarenka grabbed a towel and wiped dirt and sweat off her opponent before putting an arm around her and kissed her on the forehead.
To top it off, Azarenka even packed Kasatkina's bag for her.
The beautiful display of sportsmanship by Azarenka was captured on video.
