At 90 Years Old, James Thomas Completed His 43rd NYC Marathon, His Last One
November 3, 2026
James Thomas has been running the New York City Marathon since 1980, and tonight he completed his 43rd.
After crossing the finish line as the last man in the race, he said this would be his final marathon. His mind still wants to keep going, but his body can no longer do it.
What an incredible way to close this chapter. Congratulations on 43 New York City Marathons, Marty.
