In 2012, a pregnant wife arived in Fort Worth, Texas, with her two children. Having fled their village in war-torn Sudan, Alik was separated from her husband Dyan who was stuck in a refugee camp in northern Africa.
He didn't think he would ever see his family again.
Meanwhile, two moms from The Village Church in Fort Worth were looking for a way for their families to put feet to their Christian faith. Molly and Mary Claire signed up to volunteer with Catholic Charities, one of the larger refugee resettlement agencies in Texas and were matched with Alik and her family.
They did everything in their power to reunite Alik and the kids with Dyan but were told "It'll be a miracle if this happens."
