Grumpy Veteran Leaves Waitress $50,000 And A Car For Always Being Kind To Him
April 6, 2019
For seven years, Luby's waitress Melina Salazar put on a smile and tended to the every need of her most loyal and grumpy customer, Walter "Buck" Swords.
The 89-year-old WWII veteran was notorious for complaining about his food and service, and his overall demeanor was not a happy one.
But Melina always smiled through Walter's demands and curses. She never showed any anger or displeasure with him. She consistently served him with a smile. Amazingly, Walter would respond to the smile with a smile.
One day, Walter stopped coming to the restaurant.
After reading the obituaries in the paper, Melina learned that he had passed away.
About a week after Walter's passing, Melina received a pleasant surprise. Walter left her $50,000 and a car.
