THIS Is What We Are Doing To Our Planet
March 6, 2018
Tourists have always flocked to the Indonesian island of Bali to surf, snorkel and sunbathe on its perfect beaches. But lately, it's become a bit of a dump, literally.
A man diving in Manta Point, Nusa Penida just posted a video of all the plastic trash in the water and it's shocking.
"The ocean currents brought us in a lovely gift of a slick of jellyfish, plankton, leaves, brunches, fronds, sticks, etc.... Oh, and some plastic," he wrote in the video description. "Some plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic sheets, plastic buckets, plastic sachets, plastic straws, plastic baskets, plastic bags, more plastic bags, plastic, plastic, so much plastic!"
Fortunately, people are trying to create technology to get rid of this problem. And many restaurants and grocery stores are beginning to take steps to eliminate plastic packaging.
However, Indonesia has quickly become one of the world's most polluting countries, Acciona reports. The country is the second biggest maritime plastic polluter in the world after China.
We need to start taking better care of our beautiful planet.
