Understudy Has 4 Hours Notice To Replace Star, Hits The Highest Note In Opera's History
September 25, 2017
In 2009, understudy Rachele Gilmore for trained opera singer Kathleen Kim only had four hours notice that she would be replacing Kim that evening. She would also have to sing one of the most difficult opera songs, "The Doll Song".
Gilmore ended up hitting a High A-flat, the highest note to have ever been sung in opera history. I love the actors' reactions.
