Gibbon's 'I’m Outta Here' Run Has Us All Laughing
February 13, 2025
A gibbon’s dramatic dash across a bridge is the latest viral sensation, and for good reason! In the now-famous clip, the gibbon leaps gracefully from a tree, lands on a bridge, and takes off running—arms raised high in the air.
Viewers couldn’t help but draw some hilarious comparisons. One person joked it looked like Jack Sparrow’s signature escape run from Pirates of the Caribbean, while another quipped, “Actual footage of me clocking out and leaving work.”
So, why do gibbons run like this?
Unlike other primates, gibbons are built for life in the trees. Their long arms help them swing effortlessly from branch to branch, a movement called brachiation. When they run on the ground, they instinctively keep their arms up for balance—making them look both comical and surprisingly graceful at the same time!
