Hootie & The Blowfish Perform For An Oblivious Crowd At A BBQ Restaurant In The 90s

Sometime around 1994-95, Hootie & the Blowfish were booked at Fitzgerald's in Houston. Earlier that evening members of the band were out having a meal and enjoying some live bluegrass when a lady on stage noticed them and called them out.

"Those four guys... how many of you is musicians?" she asks while pointing into the crowd. She had no idea who they were (nobody in the place did) but somehow sensed they were musicians.

"Do you have a leader? ... Come on up here," she continues while another member of the bluegrass band pokes fun at their hats.

"Our name's funnier than our hats. Our name's Hootie and the Blowfish," a member of Hootie says on stage.

This was at a time when you could not turn on a radio or walk through a mall without hearing them.

Hootie's lead singer Darius Rucker walked up on stage next and this is what happened...
