Elephants are highly sensitive and caring animals, and have been observed to express grief, compassion, altruism and play.

The Samui Elephant Haven shared this video of the herd rushing to the aid of one of their senior family members.

"When Grandma Somo fell by accident, everyone rushed over to see if she was okay," the sanctuary said.
