Pigeon Thinks He's The Daddy Rabbit, Helps Keeps Baby Rabbits Safe

July 7, 2021

This pigeon thinks he's the father of baby rabbits and does his part in keeping them warm and safe.

This is how it happened:

"My husband found a baby pigeon in a roof that was being repaired, so he brought it home. I cared for it inside the house for a while, then when it starting moving around more I put it in the rabbit pen with our male rabbit, Spot. They became very good friends and Spot taught the pigeon, whose name is Galaxy, how to eat food from the ground.

Then my husband decided to buy a female rabbit who we named Honey. Honey, Spot, and Galaxy all get along well, they even groom each other.

Then honey had babies and I found Galaxy sitting on them and protecting them like they were his own. He does this every day and even bosses the big bunnies around.

Rabbits only feed their young once during the night and pigeons share the care. So who knows what they’re all really thinking.

Galaxy goes out for a fly daily too, but always comes back home."
