Sometimes a simple birthday post can remind thousands of people just how much there is to be grateful for.

More than 17,000 people liked or commented on his post, with hundreds of people taking the time to wish him a happy birthday.

Marius was so touched by the outpouring of kindness that he later returned to thank everyone who had taken the time to send him a message.

"Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful birthday wishes! I read every single one and they bring so much joy to my 60th birthday," he wrote.

Marius, who is from Romania, has lived through challenges that have changed his life in ways most people can hardly imagine.

When he was 23 years old, he survived a terrible train accident that resulted in the amputation of both of his arms.

But he refused to let the accident define what he could do.

"It completely changed my life, but I refused to give up," Marius said. "Since then, I have learned to do everything with my feet, including typing every single word here using my right big toe."

And throughout it all, he says he has had someone by his side who has helped him every step of the way.

"My amazing wife is my hands and my guardian angel," he said.

Now, at 60 years old, Marius is celebrating another year of life, surrounded by thousands of strangers who wanted to celebrate with him.

And judging by his message, he isn't taking any of it for granted.
