Country star donates $50,000 to struggling military family

May 8, 2012

Dierks Bentley, one of country music's biggest stars, donated a check for $50,000 to a military family going through a tough time live on the Ellen DeGenerous Show.

Sergeant Chad Sparks and his wife Ashley have been married 2 years, and just had their newborn baby Brooke. They have been living penny to penny, selling what they can to get by, in order to provide food on the table.

Chad is being deployed back to Afghanistan for a second time and is worried about leaving his family home to fend for themselves.

Ashley wrote a letter to Ellen telling her about her situation and how much she appreciated Ellen for everything she does and how much she loves her show. Ellen responded by bringing them to the show where they got the surprise of a lifetime.

Dierks Bentley let them know how much he appreciates the service men in our country and the sacrifices they make.  He presented them with the check and changed their lives forever.
