Restaurant Owner Opens On Easter To Grant Dying Man’s Final Wish

In Lockport, one brother turned grief into action by honoring a final wish that meant the world.

Before passing away from cancer, Frank Ozimek spent six weeks in hospice care, forming a close bond with the nurses who looked after him. In his final days, he shared one last wish: he wanted those caregivers to be fed on Easter.

His brother, Ken Ozimek, was determined to make it happen.

But there was one problem—nearly every restaurant in town was closed for the holiday.

After making calls and coming up empty, Ken reached out to a local restaurant owner, Tommy Milani of Sub Delicious.

Without hesitation, Milani agreed.

“I said absolutely, whatever you need, Ken,” Milani shared. “They do an amazing job there. They’re all saints.”

Setting aside his own Easter plans, Milani opened his restaurant just for this request and prepared enough food to feed the entire nursing staff at the hospice facility.

For Ken, the gesture was deeply moving.

“He was kind enough to push back Easter to him, put everything aside, open his restaurant, and make us food for the whole building down there,” he said.

The act was especially meaningful because it reflected the kind of person Frank had always been. Though Ken described his brother as looking like a “big bad biker guy,” he said his heart told a different story.

“You could come up to him, say ‘I’m cold,’ and he’d take the shirt off his back and give it to you.”

Now, thanks to a compassionate restaurant owner, that same spirit of generosity lives on, shared with the very people who cared for him in his final days.

“To me, it means the world to see that kindness, that greatness spread,” Ken said. “And I hope when people see this story, they take it and say, why can’t we do this, and spread joy and kindness to each other.”
