A small moment of kindness between a New Jersey UPS driver and a local author has turned into a viral feel-good story — and it’s changing lives in the process.

The moment was captured on a Ring doorbell camera and has since racked up more than 33 million views on TikTok, along with thousands of comments and shares.

The video shows UPS driver Kyle Thurkauf delivering several boxes of books to Damian Lewis, the author of “Call Me First: A Man’s Blueprint to True Leadership at Home.” Noticing the large delivery, Lewis offered Thurkauf a copy of the book.

Thurkauf accepted — and actually read it.

A few days later, despite not having a scheduled delivery, Thurkauf returned to Lewis’ home just to tell him how much the book meant to him and to ask where he could buy additional copies.

“For him not to have a delivery for me that day, when he came back to tell me how good the book was and to ask me where to get it,” Lewis said, “it was like, I feel like I made it at that point.”

That genuine moment struck a chord online.

As the video spread across social media, Lewis says the impact was immediate and life-changing. Since the clip went viral, more than 9,000 copies of his book have been sold.

“I feel blessed beyond anything I could ever expect,” Lewis said. “I almost feel like I don’t deserve it, but I’m so welcoming of everything that has happened.”

For Thurkauf, the viral attention wasn’t the goal — kindness was.

“Provide a close, meaningful relationship with each and every one of them with respect and kindness and gratitude,” he said. “That’s exactly the kind of service that I hope to provide when I’m at work.”

What started as a routine delivery turned into a powerful reminder: sometimes, a little kindness can open doors — and change lives — in ways no one expects.
