Strangers Rally To Restore Power For Louisiana Woman After Months Without Electricity
November 22, 2025
A small town in Louisiana just delivered a big reminder of how far kindness can go.
Caroline Deville of Boyce, Louisiana — a former paramedic who spent 28 years helping others — had been living for weeks without electricity or running water. Her utility bill had climbed to $2,247, and with no payment plan options offered by the town, she found herself stuck without a way forward.

But once local station KALB shared her story in September, something incredible happened.
“Donations started coming out of the woodwork,” Deville said.
Neighbors, viewers, and the CENLA Community Action Committee began pitching in until the entire overdue balance was paid off at Town Hall. And just like that, Deville’s lights — and hope — came back on.
The first thing she did? Exactly what you might expect.
“I got in that afternoon and started cooking and got a nice hot shower,” she said. “I’ve been at peace. I’ve been extremely thankful.”
Deville says the interview with KALB’s Jay McCully “knocked it out of the park” and sparked the wave of support that changed everything. The generosity, she added, was deeply moving.
“Humbling. It reminded me that there are people out there who do care. You know, that puts a little bit of faith back in humanity.”
