10-Year-Old Girl Saves Her Brother From Choking During Viral Candy Challenge
October 14, 2025
A 10-year-old girl from Texas is being hailed as a hero after saving her little brother’s life — and it was all caught on camera.
Leah James was participating in the viral Warhead Challenge with her 7-year-old brother, Logan, when things suddenly took a frightening turn. The siblings were laughing and jumping on a trampoline, testing who could handle the sour candy the longest, when Logan suddenly began to choke.
In the video, Logan can be seen sitting up and clutching his throat as he struggles to breathe. Leah immediately asks if he’s okay and gives a few firm pats on his back.
When that doesn’t work, she remembers what her mom taught her — how to perform the Heimlich maneuver.
With calm and courage far beyond her years, Leah wraps her arms around her brother and performs several quick abdominal thrusts. Moments later, Logan coughs up the candy and begins breathing again.
The incredible rescue was shared by the Lavon Police Department, where the children’s mother, Heather James, works as a special programs administrator. Lavon’s Chief of Police Michael Jones praised Leah’s quick thinking, calling her actions “truly lifesaving.”
