On October 6, 2025, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office received a call around 3:30 p.m. about a missing 5-year-old autistic, nonverbal child near Lake Lisa Park. Deputies immediately rushed to the scene, knowing that water nearby made the situation especially dangerous.

When they arrived, citizens pointed them toward the lake—where they learned that the child’s 17-year-old brother had already jumped into the water to save her. The teen had managed to reach his little sister and keep her safe by holding her on a branch until help arrived.

Bodycam footage shared by the Sheriff’s Office shows deputies racing to the lake, climbing a fence, and helping pull both siblings safely from the water.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office praised the young man for his bravery, saying his quick thinking and courage likely saved his sister’s life.

“Missing persons calls are treated with the highest priority, especially when a child is involved,” the department said in a statement. “We commend the 17-year-old brother for his courageous actions.”
