The concert, titled Back to the Beginning, took place on July 5 in Osbourne’s hometown of Birmingham, England. Designed as a tribute to his remarkable career and the genre he helped shape, the event brought together fans and musicians from across the globe. It also fulfilled Osbourne’s last public wish: to perform live one final time.
Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine served as musical director for the event and shared heartfelt words following the performance. “We set out to not just create the greatest day in the history of heavy metal,” Morello wrote on social media. “‘Back to the Beginning’—more than 190 million dollars will be donated to houses and hospitals for children. Boom.”
All profits from the event are being equally distributed to three causes close to Osbourne’s heart: Birmingham Children's Hospital, Acorns Children's Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s.
Morello added, “It was over a year of hard work but heavy metal was the music that made me love music and it was a labor of love.”

According to Billboard, the $190 million raised surpasses the totals from iconic benefit concerts like George Harrison and Ravi Shankar’s Concert for Bangladesh in 1971 and Sir Bob Geldof’s Live Aid in 1985, marking a new milestone for charitable music events.
Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22 at the age of 76 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. But in his final act, he proved that his legacy is not only in the music he created but in the lives he touched—both on and off the stage.
