Leandro Pinto Dantas / Asda

Leandro Pinto Dantas, who delivers for Asda in Poole, Dorset, sensed something was wrong when he arrived at a woman’s home to drop off her groceries. The customer, a woman in her 60s, wasn’t answering the door—even though the lights and TV were on.

"I knocked and called the contact number, but there was no reply," Dantas recalled. He was about to leave but had a strong feeling something wasn’t right. "I believe God made me go back," he said.

Looking through the window, he spotted the woman unconscious on the floor. Without hesitation, he called emergency services. Paramedics quickly arrived and treated her with glucose, as she had experienced a diabetic episode that caused dangerously low blood sugar levels.

Dantas, who wasn’t originally scheduled to work that day but had swapped shifts, believes fate played a role in him being there.

"I'm just happy that I was able to help and save her," he shared.

Going beyond his duties, he put away her groceries while she received medical care. After she was taken to the hospital for further checks, he finished his shift. A few days later, he visited her with flowers to make sure she was doing well.

The woman wrote to the Bournemouth Echo to thank Leandro

The woman, deeply grateful for his kindness, wrote to the Bournemouth Echo, calling him a "wonderful chap."

"What he did was certainly above and beyond what I would expect from a delivery driver," she said.

Since the lifesaving moment, Dantas has been nominated for an Asda service superstar award.

"He truly is a hero and went totally above and beyond, which in turn probably saved the customer's life," his manager, Heidi Mallinson, told SWNS.
