The rescue mission began when the Orange Beach Wildlife Center received a distressing report about an Osprey entangled in fishing line and unable to free itself.
The wildlife center quickly realized that their usual rescue methods wouldn’t work in the dark, and time was of the essence.
That’s when they reached out to Phillip, a skilled tree climber with Spar Land & Tree Management. Despite the late hour, Phillip didn’t hesitate to answer the call.

Arriving swiftly at the scene, Phillip assessed the situation and began his ascent up the tree.
Once he reached the Osprey, he secured the branch the bird was stuck on and carefully cut it, lowering it gently to the ground where a team was waiting to assist.

The Osprey was found to have a fishing hook lodged in its wing and another hook deeply embedded in its foot.
Thanks to the swift actions of Phillip and the wildlife team, the bird’s wounds were cleaned, and it is now receiving the care it needs to recover.

The Orange Beach Wildlife Center expressed deep gratitude for Phillip’s quick response and dedication.
“We are so thankful for Phillip and his quick response. If it wasn’t for him, the bird would have had to sit there all night before rescuing,” the center shared.
