April 18, 2024
Fifteen-year-old Jaylynn Parker has made waves in Ohio’s fishing community by catching the biggest fish on record since the state began record-keeping in the 1950s.
Fishing alongside her dad, Chuck Parker, and family friend Jeff Sams near a creek connected to the Ohio River, Jaylynn reeled in a colossal catfish weighing 101.11 pounds.

The impressive catch was made using a jug line, and Jaylynn couldn't contain her excitement, dubbing the fish "massive" as she brought it ashore. Following the catch, the fish was officially certified as a state record.
Kristen, Jaylynn's proud mother, shared her joy with Fox 8 News, stating, "I'm so proud of her. Jaylynn has had a passion for fishing with her dad since she was 3-years old."
Kristen also revealed Jaylynn's aspiration to start her own YouTube fishing channel, aiming to inspire young people to pursue their passions and achievements.

Reflecting on her remarkable catch, Jaylynn expressed her excitement and hopes to inspire her peers.
"It's so exciting. I want to inspire young people my age to know they can get out there and do and achieve what adults do or anyone," Jaylynn passionately stated.
In a heartwarming gesture, after the fish was certified and appropriately named 'Bob the Blue Cat' by Jaylynn, she released the fish back into the water.
