'I Was Meant to Be Here': Man Saves Young Boy From Flying Puck At Cleveland Monsters Game

Today's good news story comes from Cleveland, Ohio.

A heart-stopping moment at a Cleveland Monsters game turned into a heartwarming story of heroism and fate. Andrew Podolak, seated next to Asia Davis and her 4-year-old son Nasir, saved the young boy from a flying hockey puck during Thursday's game at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

In the closing minutes of the third period, a puck hurtled into the crowd, aimed directly at Nasir. With quick reflexes and a protective instinct, Podolak intercepted the puck, preventing what could have been a devastating injury.

"If you know anything about a hockey puck, it's more dense than a baseball. This dude literally saved my son's life," exclaimed Davis in a TikTok video (below) that has since gone viral.

After the nail-biting incident, Davis, Nasir, and Podolak snapped a few pictures together and left the game. However, Davis felt compelled to express her gratitude even more and turned to TikTok to locate her son's savior.

The video gained traction rapidly, catching Podolak's attention. "Next thing you know, my phone is blowing up. 'Is this you? Is this you?'" Podolak recounted. "That's me. I was there."

The Cleveland Monsters were quick to recognize Podolak's heroic actions and extended an invitation to the trio for a special experience at Saturday night’s game against the Laval Rocket. The heartwarming reunion saw Davis, Nasir, and Podolak walking in together, greeting the players, and participating in an emotional puck drop ceremony at center ice.

Davis later discovered that Podolak had intentionally chosen to sit next to her and Nasir, despite having an extra seat available. "He was like, 'I was meant to be here'," shared Davis. "You cannot tell me God is not real."

Both Davis and Podolak believe that this extraordinary event was not a mere coincidence.

"My section was 107, row 7, seat 7," Podolak pointed out. "Everything happened for a reason," he added, noting that seven is Davis's lucky number as well.

Reflecting on the miraculous turn of events, Davis expressed her gratitude, saying, "I don't believe in coincidences. I believe everything happens for a reason. I'm just so grateful."
