Tina and Josh Fey were both relaxing on the beach when the 10-foot Mako shark made a beeline for the shore.
The couple said they contacted authorities to let them know the shark had washed ashore. Then Josh took matters into his own hands once he realized the shark may have just needed a nudge back into the water.
Following a couple of unsuccessful attempts on his own, three additional beachgoers opted to lend a hand.
The agitated mako shark struggled and thrashed. At one point, it threw the rescuers aside.
Eventually, they managed to pull it to deeper water.
After a few moments to recuperate, the shark swam away, and the eyewitnesses gave the three men a standing ovation.
"Thank you to the guys that helped us," Josh told WKRG. "You know, if it wasn't for them, I would not be able to move her. She was every bit of 5 to 600 pounds; I would think. I couldn't budge her; it took four of us to enter into the water. I hope everybody else that comes to beaches and sees a distressed animal like that, you know, with sea turtles or anything like that, that they help them out."
