This week, staff and patients at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital cheered as Sheeran performed his hit songs.

A spokesperson for the hospital said it was an "absolutely magical experience" and thanked Sheeran for making their day.

Last week, Sheeran stopped by the Queensland Children's Hospital and performed "private concerts" for patients.

Photos from his surprise visit show children, their families, doctors and nurses looking thrilled as he sang several hit songs.

One young fan even performed a duet of "Thinking Out Loud" with Ed.

A hospital staff member said Ed seemed to "really want to be there" as he chatted with patients.

"He really sat down, got chatting to the kids, finding out where they were from, their stories, which was really lovely," they said.
