The avalanche occurred on the Trittkopf mountain between Zürs and Lech am Arlber.
10 people — who were from Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Bosnia, Croatia and the USA — were seen toppled by the disaster in a video captured by a bystander (see below).
According to the Austria Press Agency (APA), all of the people feared missing have been found alive. Only one skier was seriously injured in the incident.
"He is in the intensive care unit with very serious injuries, but his condition is stable," said Tirol Kliniken GmbH when asked by the APA. All other skiers involved in the avalanche suffered only minor injuries or remained unharmed.
"Although no one has been missing since Sunday evening, a final security search on Monday should definitely give the all-clear," the APA said.
The alpine police are currently investigating the cause of the accident. Possible factors for triggering the avalanche could have been people, animals or solar radiation.
