Monday morning, Gwenivere Rollins stopped by Dunkin Donuts for a cup of coffee and a donut for her 18-month-old daughter, Farris.

Rollins was on her way to the second of three doctor's appointments in the last several days because Farris has been suffering from croup, an ear-infection and a full-body viral rash.

When she got to the window to pay, the Dunkin employee explained that the State Trooper, who had been in front of her, had picked up her tab.

It was a small act of kindness but Rollins said she cried all the way to her daughter's appointment.

She took to social media to share and explain.

"To the State Trooper that paid for my coffee in the Pittsfield (Maine) Dunkin drive through this morning around 7:40:

Your $4 act of kindness meant the entire world to me, I cried all the way to waterville. Today we were headed to her Pediatrician for her 2 out of 3 doctors appointments in the last week. She has been suffering from Croup, an Ear Infection and now a full body, itchy viral rash. We’ve had a hard few days and that small act of kindness meant the world to me. Thank you for the coffee, thank you for your service to your community and thank you for keeping us safe.

Also, Farris says thank you for the donut."

Rollins asked her friends and family to share the post so that it might reach the trooper. Her post has been shared more than 4,000 times.

"With this spreading so far and so wide, I really want to add in something," Rollins wrote in a update to her post. "I myself am really ill and needing surgery as well as being a college student and a stay at home mom. You NEVER know what someone is carrying, so always always be kind to the stranger standing next to you. The Trooper had no idea who I was from Adam. Yet made such a small act of kindness that to me, felt like a gift from God himself because it’s been a hard few weeks. You never know what someone is losing in their season of life, so spread kindness as fast as this post has spread. Do good recklessly. Be kind with abandon. The person behind you at the grocery store could be having the worst day of their life, and you would just never know."
