NYPD Finds British Couple Who Lost Engagement Ring In Times Square
December 3, 2018
A British couple who lost their engagement ring while visiting New York City has been found after the NYPD used social media to try and track them down.
John Drennan proposed to Daniella Anthony but was so excited that he dropped the ring into a grate.
The couple flagged down a police officer for help. But after waiting for about an hour, the couple left — without leaving their names — as police continued to search for the diamond ring.
"I just thought it was gone forever," Anthony said.
But police officers later managed to find it. Now, they had to track the couple down, who unbeknownst to them, had already flown back to England.
All they had was this footage, which they posted to Twitter.

On Saturday afternoon, the NYPD announced that they had found the couple.
"We would like to thank everyone who shared this story! The (now) happy couple is back in their home country, but thanks to your retweets they heard we were looking for them! We're making arrangements to get them their ring back. Congratulations!" NYPD News wrote on Twitter.
"We're absolutely ecstatic," Drennan told the New York Times. "We just cannot believe it."
Thank you, Twitter. Case closed!
