Teen saves neighbor from bottom of pool
June 12, 2013
16 year-old Jarrod Godbolt saved the life of an 8 year-old whom he found at the bottom of an apartment complex pool this past Sunday.
Jarrod and his sister Jasmine walked to the apartment pool Sunday night and Jasmine noticed a large shape at the very bottom.
"And I was like, 'Well, get him out!' You could tell it was a person at the very bottom,” Jasmine told reporters.
Jarrod dove in and recognized the body as he swam down to him. It was his neighbor Chance Okafor, eyes wide open and tongue sticking out. He pulled the boy up to the pool deck and began trying to revive him with CPR.
"I didn't know what I was doing, honestly," Jarrod confessed on his attempt at CPR.
Luckily, another neighbor saw what was happening and did happen to know CPR. After 3 to 4 minutes, Chance Okafor responded.
