107-Year-Old Is The World's Oldest Barber And He's Still Cutting Hair Full Time

October 14, 2018

Anthony Mancinelli is the world's oldest barber and he's showing no signs of slowing down.

Anthony is 107 and is still working full time, cutting hair five days a week for 8 hours a day. He has been working in barbershops for the past 97 years.

Anthony was born in 1911 near Naples, Italy, and eight years later sailed to the United States with his family, arriving in New York on September 11, 1919. Because an aunt lived there, the Mancinellis settled in Newburgh, New York, just eight miles from New Windsor, where Anthony currently resides.

He started cutting hair in 1921, when haircuts cost a mere 25 cents. He was just ten years old.

Today, he's considered one of the most reliable employees at the salon.

"He never calls in sick," Fantastic Cuts owner Jane Dinezza said. "I have young people with knee and back problems, but he just keeps going. He can do more haircuts than a 20-year-old kid. They're sitting there looking at their phones, texting or whatever, and he's working."

When asked about retirement, he replied, "Why would I?"
