NICU Volunteer Donates Over $1 Million To The Baby Unit

Every Tuesday, Louis Mapp visits the USA Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, Alabama to rock, feed, or burp, any baby who needs loving arms.
This week, Louis and his wife Melinda donated $1,055,000 to the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit.

Louis, 81, has been volunteering at the hospital since early 2017.
"I love to look at their expressions when I rock them. This one is smiling at me right now, and it just makes your day to do that," he said.
This experience began the trajectory for the couple's recent gift.
"These babies are so precious, it's hard to put into words," Louis said. "We decided we wanted to do something that, after we're gone, would carry on, and that's why we established the endowment for the NICU."
Everyone, including Nurse Manager, Renee Rogers, was shocked by Mapp's donation.
"For him to come with his time alone is fabulous, but then the donation! It was massively surprising," Rogers said.
