7 year-old battling brain cancer scores TD for University of Nebraska
April 16, 2013
It's fourth down and late in the final quarter at the annual spring game for the University of Nebraska. The red team called in No. 22, 7 year-old Jack Hoffman, for a play that will be remembered forever.
Jack is currently battling pediatric brain cancer. The Nebraska Cornhuskers suited him up and designed a play for him on the sidelines. Quarterback Taylor Martinez handed the ball to Jack, who ran the ball nearly 70 yards for a touchdown while fans cheered in the stands.
"That was awesome for the team and for Jack," Martinez said after the game in quotes distributed by the school. "He's going to remember that for the rest of his life and so will I. It was awesome for him to score that touchdown."
The team even put out the stats after the game. Notice the leading rusher on the Red team.
