Helped A Mom And Son Celebrate Halloween After She Had Trouble Paying
By brohimian • November 2, 2026
I (late 30s) went to a Spirit Halloween this morning to get a last-minute costume.
The place wasn’t too busy so I wandered around for a few minutes before deciding on a Where’s Waldo costume.
I went over to the check-out counter and was behind a woman, guessing 20-something, and her toddler-aged son. The cashier rang her up and she was trying to pay with a debit card. The transaction wasn’t going through, so she told the cashier she would step to the side and check her balance.
I was up next and saw her total was about $70.
I quietly told the cashier I would take care of her things. He didn’t hesitate at all and added my costume to the total. I paid and he handed me my things. He then handed her bag back to her and told her it was taken care of.
She said thank you and I gave her what was probably an awkward smile and half-wave.
Felt nice. I hope they have a fun night.
