My Teacher Made Me Cry Out Of Joy
By a friend • September 17, 2026
I'm crying in the school restroom as I'm typing this.
My mom got me my favorite rice with tofu for lunch, and I was getting pretty hungry and excited to eat it after fifth period.
I grabbed my lunch, put it in the microwave, and as I was taking it out, I accidentally dropped my lunchbox onto one of the school's plates. The plate broke, and my entire lunch ended up on the floor.
My art teacher was there as I started blabbering apologies and asked how much I needed to pay for the plate. She wasn't mad at all. She gave me some tissues and told me how to clean up the mess. I was so confused because I wasn't sure what to use to clean rice and dressing off the floor, so that was really sweet of her.
She told me not to worry about the plate because there were plenty of them and accidents happen. She said she was mainly worried about me losing my lunch.
I thanked her, cleaned up the mess, and went to the restroom to eat some leftover salted peanuts I had as a snack. I mostly eat unhealthy things in the restroom because I get embarrassed eating like that, especially right after I've already "had lunch."
When I came out, I realized I still had the entire lunch break left, so I decided to ask another teacher for advice on my homework.
The teacher I went to see shares an office with my art teacher, the same teacher who had seen me drop my lunch.
I knocked on the door and asked my art teacher about the other teacher. She told me the teacher had already left for the day, but then she stopped me at the door to give me something.
She had gone out and spent her own money on a big pack of cookies. She even asked me if it was enough.
She told me she had wanted to buy me a baguette, but she wasn't sure whether I was a vegetarian because all the baguettes had meat in them.
She doesn't know how much this means to me. Having a teacher care about her student beyond her basic teaching responsibilities is something I'll never forget.
She made sure I had something to eat and even thought to choose a vegetarian option in case I was one.
I don't know what else to add. I guess just that we need more teachers like her, and I'll probably remember her forever.
