The Kindest Thing Someone Did For Me
By a friend • April 17, 2026
In 2002, I was in college, working part time and was married with three children. My husband had lost his job the previous year and been out of work for 6 months.
Though he’d recently gotten a job, we had very little money to spare.
My daughter’s teacher belonged to an organization called PEO and arranged for me to get a scholarship that covered my tuition for the upcoming year then gave me $2000 of her own money to pay for my books and incidentals (gas money, childcare, etc).
Without her, I would have had to drop out.
After I graduated, I tried many times to pay her back but she would never let me.
Finally in 2017 or 2018, she said okay.
