I went to a rheumatologist appointment. She was running about two hours behind.
Just a routine check in for me, but among the crowd in the waiting room was this older woman who was in real, intense pain. Her husband was with her and worried, you could see it.
I distracted her into conversation and pretended to be interested in her grandson because she actually "forgot" when she showed me pictures of him.
Her appointment came after mine, but once I knew that I switched slots with her so she could get seen and get home to more comfort sooner.
