Retired, Widowed Man Would Come Over Once A Week To Give My Dogs Treats
By a friend • February 18, 2026
The retired, widowed man who I used to live next door to, would come over once a week to give my dogs treats that he bought specially for them.
I could tell how much these visits lifted his spirits.
What’s funny is, when I moved into the neighborhood / house, and walked around to introduce myself, everyone warned me of the “grumpy old man” that I moved in next to - they all said he was going to give me crap about my dogs, or that he would be knocking on my door to yell at me about shoveling the snow off the sidewalks or whatever.
He became a dear friend, and I hope that the person who moved into my old house after me was able to give him the kindness he deserves, too.
