Teenagers Being Kind

By a friend • December 8, 2025

I worked a community event last night. A little after 8:00pm, the volunteer and I had packed everything in a wagon using a lot of bungee cords and careful stacking. I was pulling the wagon, and over my shoulder was the riser I had in its bag. The volunteer was wheeling the 10x10 pop up and her personal belongings. It’s a bit of a walk to the car, with some sloping.

We’re about halfway to the car, and pass three teenage boys. One of them asks me if I need help. I said I wouldn’t mind help turning the corner with the wagon. He takes the wagon from me and turns it on his own and says he’ll take it the rest of the way. He tells one of his friends to carry the riser for me, and the other friend to take the pop up from my volunteer. I parked the car at the bottom of a sloping parking lot. We offered to take everything back once we hit the lot, but they insisted on taking everything all the way to the car. It was such a lovely gesture.

Faith in humanity has been restored!
