My Random Act Of Kindness Ended Up Being Just As Healing For Me As It Was For Her
By a friend • April 30, 2025
Today at my workplace, a woman was buying some pink shorts.
My boss and I were ringing her up and during chit chat we comment how pink was her color (she had a bright pink purse too) and she told us how pink was her mom’s favorite color. Then she got quiet and told us how her mom had just passed and she didn’t get to see her before she passed….. she started crying while trying to check out and all I wanted to do was hug her.
So I did. And it was probably the best darn hug I’ve had in a long time.
She doesn’t know it, but I’ve been ignoring my own grief for a good while now. This week in particular has been so, so hard on me. But that hug healed something in me, even if just for a minute.
