That Was The Last Thing I Expected To Hear

By A Friend • September 13, 2024

Last night at 11pm I was driving home.

While waiting at a light, I saw a young lady on the sidewalk up ahead. She was squatting, and leaning forward. I drove by wondering.

A few blocks away I turned my car around. I knew I wouldn't sleep without checking on her. When I drove up on her, she was still bent over. Her face was so close to the cement!

I asked, "Are you alright?"

"Oh I'm fine thanks. I was just watching a slug."

"Haha, okay." She thanked me for checking on her.

I drove away giggling. That was the last thing I expected to hear!
