Woman On A Mobility Scooter
By Liz • May 10, 2023
Last night I had run up to the store and I was walking and a young couple were in front of me laughing and cracking jokes about a woman's weight who was on a mobility scooter trying to load her groceries and struggling.
I saw she was tearing up so I stopped and asked if I could help. She said yes and I loaded her groceries and told her to ignore those jerks.
Turns out she has MS and she had taken a bad fall and had just gotten out of the hospital. She had a broken arm and broken ribs. She had no one to help her.
We talked for a few more minutes and I offered to take the scooter back in the store. She thanked me and said I had made her night better.
I got in the store and saw that young couple and I let them have it. I am sure they didn’t care but I left them red faced and speechless and a man walked over and said “Good for you!” and patted me on the back.
I am glad I said something because people can be so quick to judge and downright cruel. I am glad that I was there when I was and was able to help her.
