I Will Shop There For The Rest Of My Days

By A Friend • March 6, 2023

This happened a while ago, but I'll never forget it.

My husband had a mental breakdown after being overworked and under appreciated for years.

In an instant we lost our only income. We have 3 children.

I also suffer mental health issues and so upped my meds and prepared to find work and look after my husband.

I was shopping one day and the lovely lady at the bakery asked if I was ok.

Well, the waterworks started and wouldn't stop. I explained to her my situation (to justify my tears), bought some bread and went on my puffy eyed way to do the rest of my shopping.

Only to have her chase me down and say "My husband and I have talked and we will not take no for an answer. You will have free anything from our bakery for as long as you need it.

I'd love to say I didn't take her up on the offer, but the truth is, we NEEDED the help. And my husband was a model patient and was back to work a couple of months later. As soon as he was, we went back to paying.

And I will shop there for the rest of my days.
