A Simple Dog Walk

By chris • April 26, 2013

It was a beautiful, sunny day so I decided to take my dog, Tater, out for a nice walk. It finally feels like spring now as the sun shines down onto my face and the grass is growing tall and green. Tater gets so excited when I grab her leash as she waits by the door knowing she's going outside to play.

As we walked down the street, all I could think about was how Tater reminded me of my childhood. She is so excited to be outside in the nice weather as I was when I was just a boy. Every day I could not wait to get home from school to go play in the fields behind my parents house.

I watched Tater walking through the grass with her bare paws and it reminded me of running through the fields barefoot without a care in the world. I would sometimes lay down on the soft grass and just stare up at the sky and think how amazing life is. I wasn't thinking about money, or the economy. I was thinking about how beautiful the blue sky looked from where I lied. How amazing the trees looked high in the sky, not seeing their trunks.

As Tater stopped to sniff around, I took a moment to look up in the sky and feel the breeze in my hair. I remembered what life is all about, and all my worries went away. All from a simple dog walk.
