Sometimes God Waits Until The Last Minute
By Susie Harman • January 18, 2015
It was one of those days when something just did 't feel right; felt uneasy. End of the year reports were soon due, income tax w-2's had to be done for employees, and my mind was a bit overwhelmed. As I drove to work, my prayer was to beg God for his peace that passes all understanding and his unfailing mercy.
Arriving at the office, my mind was trying so hard to trust GOD to work miracles for me and put a smile of confidence on my face. Settling in my chair, I began to work on the first report. So far, so good. I began to feel so proud of myself that I had accomplished this first task, only to try to print it and the copy machine would not work. Try as I might, nothing I tried would make that unyielding machine work.
Downhearted and feeling like God had let me down and wanting to declare sickness and go home, I soon just gave up and started another project - something that wouldn't require printing.
My boss arrived and made the mistake of asking me how my morning was going. I began to whine about my delimna with the copy machine and how frustrating I had become with it. She smiled and soon dismissed herself to her office, leaving me with a feeling that I had looked bad in her eyes and certainly had not been very good witness for my faith in God's provision.
As I settled back into my non-printing job, the telephone rang. It was a Christian friend, who often called just out of the blue to say hello. Her first words were that God had placed me on her heart that morning, and she felt a deep sense of urgency to pray for me, which she said she did. As I sat there listening to her, suddenly it came to me what I had to do to make the copier print. As we continued to chat, I began to type in changes that were needed to change the copier format on my computer, pressed print, and heard the sound of the being made.
Almost shouting and feeling somewhat humbled, I shared with her what had just happened because of her obedience to God's call that morning and expressing my gratitude to both her and to God for answering my prayer even though my faith was weak.
Yes, Jesus tells us to bring our burdens to Him, and he will make them light. He also tells us that we have not, because we ask not.
Yes, God does answer our prayers and sometimes at the last minute!
